Naturalist Programs
Findley State Park
offers informative and fun summer naturalist programs for the
entire family, plus special programs that are supported by the
Ohio Division of Wildlife. Park Naturalist Roger Nikiforow is on
staff from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Programs vary
each week, so contacting the camp or park office is suggested.

Mountain biking
The Thorn Mountain Bike Trail is an 9 mile single loop trail
offering beginner, intermediate and some advanced thrills.
Helmets are absolutely necessary. The trail head is located at
the northeast corner of the dam parking lot. This amenity was
developed and is maintained by one of our partners, the North
Coast Mountain Bike Association.

Disc Golf
A nine hole disc golf course was installed in the fall of 2006 and
starts at Picnic Pine Picnic Area. This sport is new to the park, but
appeals to children, teens, adults and seniors alike. There is no charge
to play, equipment is inexpensive, and it's a new way to have fun and
enjoy the great outdoors.

Swimming
The beach and designated swimming area at Findley
State Park offers a swing set, a large sandbox, and
picnic grills and tables which will make your family's visit a "day at the
beach". Signs are posted reminding the public that this is an
unguarded beach so please take necessary precautions to keep the
kids safe. |
Hiking
Approximately 10 miles of hiking trails, including a portion of
the statewide Buckeye Trail, allow nature lovers to explore
various habitats. A scenic loop trail through diverse habitats
starts and ends at the camp check-in building. Trails vary in
length from one-half mile to the eight mile Mountain Bike
trail. Findley is home to a wide variety of song birds and
woodpeckers in addition to white tailed deer, red fox, beaver
and raccoon.
Every winter, Findley State Park hosts a winter
hike (shown to the right). To learn more, please visit our Events page.

Geocaching
The correct pronunciation is geo-caching, and it is an
entertaining game of hide and seek using a GPS (Global
Positioning Systems) devise to locate a cache that has been left
at a specific location. A cache can come in many different
forms, but always includes a log book where finders can leave a
message, a joke, coordinates to an unpublished cache at a
different location, even a good restaurant nearby. Here are some
simple rules for geocaching: take something from the cache,
leave something in the cache, write in the log book. To find out
more about go to the official website
www.geocaching.com.
